Don't give up

I love life. After struggling all day with a “marketing mastermind class,” I felt like I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Nothing was clicking, not one bitty little thing. I was swirling around in self-doubt and huffy caffeinated ughs. I exasperatedly ran to an impromptu meeting at my daughters school and arrived uncharacteristically early so decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and sit in the nearby park and just try to let the day roll off my back.

“Who are we saluting?” asked a woman’s voice over my shoulder. “Excuse me?” I asked, legitimately confused. She was referring to my hand over my eyes shielding me from the bright late afternoon sun about to set over the water. We laughed and she sat next to me on the bench. “It has been a day,” she said with a huge exhale.

We talked for a few minutes and when she sensed I wasn’t really in the mood for chit chat, she said with a nudge and a wink “What do you do all day that has you so tuckered out and deep in thought?” I told her I helped women feel empowered to make necessary changes in their lives and that I’d had a frustrating day.

Minutes went by, we chatted a bit more and then she became quiet. “My turn...what’s got you so quiet now?” I nudged back. She looked as if she might cry or laugh. “I’ve been needing someone like you for weeks.” We exchanged numbers and she asked for my website link and pulled it up on her phone right there on that bench. “Booked,” she said. “Talk to you tomorrow. By the way, I’m Peg.”
