We are all capable of being bestsellers

In my work as a book publicist my goal for every campaign, no matter how big or small, is to find the STORY. Not the plot or point of the book (though important) but the story behind WHY the book was written. I love talking to authors (and the editors and agents who acquire them) about their backstory and inspiration. Inevitably, the goal is to create a connection (or “hook”) between the reader (buyer) and the author (story). When it caught on, everything flowed.

The reality is, we can’t know our way forward until we make sense of where we are and how we got here. We have to unlock and uncover our voice in the story before we can extend it and engage with another — only then can we connect and resonate from a place of full and true authenticity.

I always encourage my clients to be vulnerable and reflective as they uncover their why. To journey inward and tap into their inner storyteller with courage and compassion so that they are empowered to create their next chapter just as they DREAM it to be, not as they DEFAULT it to be.

The truth is, from a book publicist who has launched hundreds of PR campaigns, we are all capable of being bestsellers. Each of us an original, first edition with our individual, complex plot twists and tattered edges. There are no wrong statements or passages. Only a pathway to a connection with the true you and the freedom to craft the way forward.

So go ahead — write it, tell it, share it, own it, celebrate it. Who you are matters and you have a unique gift and story that deserves to be shared with the world. Period.
