MARIA CAROLA is the founder of Momma Mosaic.

In 2014, after recovering from traumatic childbirth and postpartum depression, Maria drew upon her career as a book publicist and photographer to communicate and advocate for better maternal health.

She began sharing her personal story of overcoming postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and divorce on social media. She has since appeared on numerous media outlets including Refinery 29, Romper, The Girlfriend, SheKnows, Love What Matters, The Boston Globe, VeryWell Health, Expectful, (and even Sesame Street!) speaking about issues ranging from motherhood, body image and mental health to divorce, reinvention and aging.

Her authentic, down-to-earth style has resonated with audiences as being “relatable” and "normalizing the experience of motherhood with grace and humor." Her writing has been called "important", "inspiring" and "beautiful” and has been compared by her readers to Anne Lamott and Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

Maria studied Documentary Photography at The International Center of Photography and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Goucher College. She is a Certified Health and Life Coach (Health Coach Institute, 2018), a trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, and has been mentored by some of today’s top leaders and change makers. She is based in New York City where she is a PR Strategist for Authors.

I am grateful to be able to merge my experience in public relations with my passion to raise awareness for the complexities around motherhood. Everything I do is about finding and having a voice, about creating opportunities to be and feel heard and seen — whether in the media or within oneself.

Amplifying Motherhood. Together.

Momma Mosaic started as an extension of Maria's passion for maternal health spurred by her own struggles with postpartum depression after the birth of her two children. Throughout Maria's experience, she found there was a lack of communication among women and health practitioners surrounding issues involving women's health, pregnancy, birth, and post-pregnancy. Momma Mosaic is turning up the volume on motherhood.
